St. Columba’s uses a Values-based education approach, with the aim of giving students “formation” and not just “information” to prepare them to take their place in dignified and fulfilling employment and also to make good choices in life based on a personal vision for a better future for themselves, their families and their community.
We believe that every student has their own unique learning style and we have a responsibility to identify their strongest intelligence and adapt our teaching methods and support them to maximize their learning.
The pastoral caring approach of St. Columba’s is central to delivering this aim, placing the young adult at the centre of the college enterprise, promoting nurturing relationships between staff/stakeholders and students and, ensuring the delivery of a holistic programme which includes academics, practical experience, psychosocial care, personal development, monitoring and mentoring.
Ensuring the protection of students in our care, is an integral element of all our work. St. Columba’s has a robust child safeguarding policy which every staff member, student and associate is expected to adhere to.
